WGAC Annual Meeting and Charles D. Hudson Memorial Scholarship Dinner
It is official. The WGAC will hold it's annual banquet on May 7th at the Del 'avant in LaGrange, GA again this year. It is shaping up to be a "you don't want to miss" , "people will be talking about it" affair. Our guest speaker will be the always enjoyable Athletic Director Emeritus, David Housel. If you've heard David you know ... if you haven't YOU DO NOT WANT TO MISS IT!! We are fortunate to have him as our speaker. I don't think he travels that much anymore.
The event will start at 6:00 PM EST and ends at 9:00 PM EST.
Tickets are being printed. We want to make this a sell out event as we are trying to raise money to benefit our Charles D. Hudson Memorial Scholarship to help deserving students from our region of Georgia to go to Auburn.
How many do you need? They are only $40 each. This is a bargain price for the fun and great food you will enjoy. Catered by C' Sons, who always provides fabulous food. There will be great auction items, some... one of a kind. OF COURSE AUBIE IS SCHEDULED TO BE THERE!!! There will be many photo opportunities. It will be a night to tell stories and hear WDE! Memories will be made.
Don't forget your friends who will want tickets and will want to sit with you. There is an opportunity to make the evening even more special. We are offering to reserve a table in your name, seating 8 for $400. Yes, that is $10 more per ticket, but then you don't have to worry about getting there early to save a table and all reserved tables will be as close to the front as possible directly behind Sponsor Tables which are also available if you are interested. Just let us know.
Don't be surprised if you are given every possible opportunity to help contribute to the scholarship. We are serious about helping students from Troup, Harris and Merriweather counties go to AUBURN!!
Tickets can be purchased from any member of the Board of Directors of the WGAC or you can simply take care of that right now with PayPal.
If you have questions, do not hesitate to contact me personally at john.w.vollenweider@gmail.com and I will help you any way I can.Join us on the 7th of May. As it was once said... " a good time was had by all". I've never been among a group of AUBURN friends when I didn't have a good time.

Message from the President:
I am honored to serve as the 2012 – 2013 President of the West Georgia Auburn Club. I want to extend a welcome to all who visit here, the official website of the West Georgia Auburn Club. Our membership is made up of Auburn Alumni and Friends of Auburn from the Georgia counties of Troup, Harris and Meriwether. We are far from the largest Auburn Alumni Club, but we are certainly blessed with true Auburn Men and Women who live with the Auburn Spirit and sense of family that joins our hearts and minds.
The previous presidents of the West Georgia Auburn Club have blazed a trail and set the bar high. They have lead the way as the West Georgia Auburn Club has distinguished itself as the proud sponsor of the number one endowed scholarship in the entire Auburn Alumni Association. The Charles D Hudson Memorial Scholarship is the largest, number 1 of 98. Our goal is currently set at $1,000,000.00 and we are approximately half way there. We are committed to reaching this goal and enhancing the lives of as many young men and women from our area as we can who desire to attend Auburn University.
As a family we have enjoyed the great success of winning a National Football Championship. We have endured the unconscionable poisoning of our beloved Toomer’s Corner Oak Trees. We have cheered our Auburn athletes in the recent Olympics in London. We have done all this and so much more with a sense of FAMILY. If you have it you know it and if you don’t, it is difficult to explain. It’s that WAR EAGLE you hear across the airport as you are traveling. It’s a sense of oneness, a sense of unity.
Won’t you join us and share this experience? Call or go on line to the Auburn Alumni Association where you can join by clicking on membership unity 2011 where you will find the West Georgia Auburn Club. Your membership will be with the Auburn Alumni Association and you will be affiliated with the West Georgia Auburn Club.
Come here frequently to find out what is on the horizon. Plans are being made for a WGAC sponsored golf outing at Callaway Gardens on October 17th at the Mountain View course. A Game Watching / Tailgate / Barbeque and Tailgate food challenge is being organized by our young Tigers. More events will follow soon.
In the meantime, browse this website. Enjoy the photos and don’t forget to join the FAMILY. There is something special about being ALL IN.
War Eagle!

Comment by John Wesley Vollenweider on March 12, 2013 at 11:08pm Our Scholarship Banquet 2011! So much fun! Coach Trooper Taylor was fantastic! Entertaining and informative. Now we all know why he wears his cap backwards. The auction was a great success as we raised several thousand dollars for the Charles D. Hudson Memorial Scholarship.
When Auburn People get together good things happen!

The event will begin at 6:00 PM EST with social time, the food will be served beginning at 6:30 and the evening is projected to end at approximately 9:00 PM EST. We will have some fantastic, some one of a kind auction items this year you definitely do not want to miss.
I spent a nice afternoon recently with Coach Pat Dye and he helped me select one of his exotic Japanese Maple Trees which will be something any homeowner would love to have. Ken Young is making the first in a series of three hand made fishing rods in Auburn colors. Ticket packages to the Auburn vs Georgia as well as the Auburn vs Alabama football games including parking passes and lodging will be extremely desirable items. A few other surprises are in store. You know Bo Jackson has been voted the GREATEST ATHLETE OF ALL TIME by ESPN. There must be Bo Jackson items for auction. Who was Bo's coach in the early 80's?? There may be another surprise in store. Don't miss this event.
Tickets are being printed. We want to make this a successful event and hope to sell out the facility. We are raising money to support the Charles D. Hudson Memorial Scholarship which helps deserving students from our region of Georgia to go to Auburn.
