Students and Alumni Join Forces for the Beat Bama Food Drive

Few things motivate the Auburn Family like our rivalry with the University of Alabama. Any competition between the two schools is sure to rouse interest and support from students, alumni and fans. The Beat Bama Food Drive is no exception to this rule. In fact, this annual event combines two things dear to Auburn University: the infamous in-state rivalry and service to the community.

The Beat Bama Food Drive is an annual competition between the two schools to collect and donate food in the weeks preceding the Iron Bowl. Auburn’s donations benefit the East Alabama Food Bank. Last year, Auburn won the competition with a record-breaking donation of 234,116 pounds of food, which fed 30,000 families in Alabama.

This year’s competition began Monday, Oct. 10 and continues until Nov. 21. Our goal is to defeat the University of Alabama and raise 271,000 pounds of food.

The help of our gracious alumni is important to this cause. Here are some ways you can help:

  • Bring in Cans: barrels will be on campus starting through Nov. 21 or you can take donations directly to the East Alabama Food Bank.
  • Become a Sponsor: contact Chelsea Crooks, the Director of the Beat Bama Food Drive, at cmc0043@auburn.edu or 262-389-1624.

With your help, we can uphold Auburn’s winning record against Alabama and fight hunger in our community!
